The Singapore government has the stated goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the coming decades and becoming carbon neutral in the next century. This goal is supported by various policy measures, such as the introduction of a carbon tax and the increasing import of renewable electricity from various countries. The carbon tax is to rise to SGD 80 by 2030. This would have far-reaching consequences to the economic viability of the power plant fleet.
In this workshop, we will show how such a development could make new technologies feasible, particularly retrofitting of existing gas-fired power plants with carbon capture technologies.
Date: Friday 7th November 2025
