About the Programme

HEARTwise: Heart Failure Assessment with Reliable Technology using Wearables and In Vitro Diagnostics, is a multidisciplinary research programme focused on improving the early detection and management of heart failure. The programme develops a clinically reliable, non-invasive monitoring platform that integrates wearable mobility sensing, AI-based analysis of heart and lung sounds, and additional digital biomarkers.

Heart failure is a major cause of mortality, disability and hospitalisation worldwide. In Singapore, it affects approximately 2.5% of the population, frequently develops at a younger age and is associated with high rates of rehospitalisation. HEARTwise aims to identify early signs of clinical decompensation in ambulant patients, enabling timely intervention before emergency care or hospital admission becomes necessary.

By combining deep learning, acoustic signal processing and multimodal sensor fusion, the programme seeks to transform episodic clinical assessment into continuous, secure and patient-centred monitoring. The resulting technologies will be evaluated through clinical studies and designed for integration into Singapore’s existing healthcare ecosystem.
