TUMCREATE is a multidisciplinary research platform of the Technical University Munich (TUM) at the Singapore Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE). We are joining forces with universities, public agencies, and industry for the advancement of future technologies.

Our large-scale Food Science ‘Proteins4Singapore’ program is funded by Singapore’s National Research Foundation (NRF). The Technical University Munich (TUM) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) join forces with the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) and A*STAR’s Singapore Institute of Food and Biotechnology Innovation (SIFBI) to research plant-based proteins.

Job Title/Position:

Full- or Part- time Graphic Designer in Science Communication (Public Outreach Event)

 

Job Purpose/Objective of the Position:

We are preparing a major public outreach event on alternative proteins (9 November 2025) as part of the TFoodS Conference at Punggol Digital District. The event will feature an interactive exhibition with hands-on demos, show kitchen, food sampling, arts & crafts, and microtalks, designed to engage a broad public audience.

The Graphic Designer will play a key role in creating impactful and visually engaging materials that bring science to life for the public. This includes developing visuals for exhibition panels, hands-on activity guides, digital media, and promotional collateral. Working closely with researchers and the event team, you will help ensure that complex scientific ideas are communicated clearly, creatively, and accessibly. We are also collaborating with the Science Centre on this event, who will serve as feedback.

 

Contract duration:

To start as soon as possible and until mid-November 2025. Please let us know if you prefer to work full-time or part-time at how many hours per week.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and produce graphics for exhibition panels, posters, and info boards.
  • Develop engaging visual assets for hands-on activities, games, and interactive demonstrations.
  • Create supporting digital materials for promotion (social media, slides, flyers).
  • Adapt scientific content into clear, accessible visual formats for the public.
  • Collaborate with researchers and the outreach team to align visuals with event themes.
  • Ensure consistency with TUMCREATE and Proteins4Singapore branding guidelines.

 

Job Requirements/Competencies:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed studies in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Media Design, or related field.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) or equivalent.
  • Strong creative skills with a portfolio demonstrating visual storytelling.
  • Ability to translate technical/scientific content into accessible visuals.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines.
  • Interest in sustainability, science communication, or food innovation is a plus.
