About TUMCREATE

TUMCREATE is a multidisciplinary research platform of the Technical University Munich (TUM) at the Singapore Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE). We are joining forces with universities, public agencies, and industry for the advancement of future technologies.

Our large-scale Food Science program, ‘Proteins4Singapore,’ funded by Singapore’s National Research Foundation (NRF), is a collaborative effort between the Technical University Munich (TUM), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), and A*STAR’s Singapore Institute of Food and Biotechnology Innovation (SIFBI). As part of the Proteins4Singapore team, you will work alongside renowned scientists in food chemistry, metabolomics, sensory science, plant protein processing, and systems biology. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, the program aims to develop state-of-the-art methods and techniques to ensure a sustainable protein supply for highly urbanized environments.

Job Summary

We are looking for a Research Assistant or Intern to support a clinical trial evaluating novel food-based nutritional interventions. The opportunity is ideal for students or recent graduates interested in clinical nutrition, biomedical research or translational food science. You will be involved in material preparation, data collection, reporting, and participant coordination, as well as supporting in vitro digestion experiments that help explore the mechanisms behind the intervention. The role gives an introduction to how clinical trials are designed, conducted and monitored, while also allowing you to get laboratory experience. Full training and supervision will be provided. The internship start date is flexible based on the candidate's availability.

 

Time Commitment

This internship is for a minimum period of 3 months. You can either work full-time or part-time basis with a minimum of 16 hours per week. We require 1 intern. The internship is expected to begin in October 2025, with the exact timing to be agreed based on the candidate's availability.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation and organisation of materials and documents for the clinical trial
  • Assist with data collection, sample tracking, and accurate documentation
  • Support in vitro digestion experiments simulating gastrointestinal processes
  • Maintain clear records of all activities in accordance with clinical and lab protocols
  • Ensure compliance with good clinical practice (GCP), safety, and laboratory guidelines

 

Job Qualifications

  • Recent graduates or current BSc or MSc student in Nutrition, Biomedical Sciences, Food Science, Biology, or a related field
  • Interest in clinical studies, human health, and experimental nutrition
  • Prior lab experience or exposure to clinical/laboratory environments is an advantage
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to follow protocols accurately and document work consistently
  • Previous experience with in-vitro digestion or nutrition intervention studies is a plus
