TUMCREATE is a multidisciplinary research platform of the Technical University Munich (TUM) at the Singapore Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE). We are joining forces with universities, public agencies, and industries for the advancement of future technologies.
Researchers from Technical University Munich (TUM), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) and A*STAR’s Singapore Institute of Food and Biotechnology Innovation (SIFBI) will work together for the advancements of Singapore’s food studies. Key Job Purpose for Position
You will be working in the team of Proteins4Singapore, a comprehensive research programme with renowned scientists of plant and food technology, food chemistry, and business sustainability. Interdisciplinary teams will generate state-of-the-art methods and techniques to ensure a sustainable protein supply in highly urbanized environments.
One of the major goals of this subproject is the comprehensive scientific evaluation of a pilot vertical farm in Singapore. That includes planning, carrying out, monitoring and analysing soybean crop growth experiments to maximize grain protein yield per unit area and year under fully controlled growing conditions.
Support soybean experiments in a controlled environment system.
Monitor plants and carry out measurements & analysis.
Operate and maintain sensors and technical devices in experiments.
Competencies and Qualifications Requirements
Background in agriculture or horticulture – desirable is knowledge in vertical farming.
Experiences with scientific experiments and research projects.
Basic understanding of technology (e.g. use of sensors or technical research tools).
Good team player, able to work with deadlines and dynamic requirements.
Self-motivated and quick learner who is passionate about latest trends and technologies.
Positive attitude and desire to work in fast-paced environment.
Monitor, take measurements, collect & document data.
Prepare, seed, maintain and harvest the indoor farming trials.
Maintain experiments and equipment.
Prepare data and perform analysis.
Support scientists and project partners
Education in agriculture, horticulture, biology or related disciplines.
Previous experiences in projects with crop experiments (e.g. field trials, laboratory or climate chamber experiments).
The position will be placed in Singapore.
Strong skills in English speaking and writing, problem-solving and communication.
