TUMCREATE is a leading Research Institute set up by the Technical University of Munich, Germany in collaboration with the Singapore Government. TUMCREATE has received funding and support for the SPEEDCARGO project from the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) & the National Research Foundation (NRF) to develop automation solutions that will transform the Air Freight Logistics sector. The SPEEDCARGO solution will be the world's first AI-powered robotic solution for automatic build-up and break down of aviation cargo pallets and will help Singapore lead the transformation of the Logistics industry globally. Background

The design of real-world robotic systems is a multi-disciplinary effort. It involves the development of mechanical elements like sensors and actuators, electronic components for connecting and controlling the mechanical elements and software for higher-level planning and process control.

This job profile focuses on the development of robotics systems from the mechanical engineering and mechatronics perspective. The job will be within an emerging deep-tech startup working towards commercialization of SPEEDCARGO - world's first AI-powered robotic solution for automatic build-up and break down of aviation cargo pallets.

We want people who: work well in teams, can brainstorm big ideas, work in new technology areas, are able to drive a concept into a prototype, and can work collaboratively with a wide range of disciplines. Starting with a strong mechanical background, be willing to become a quick expert in a new area and quickly build new prototypes.

 

Objective & tasks

As the Product Manager for SPEEDCARGO, you will play a pivotal role in building the world’s first automation solution for unstructured & high mix cargo management; and you will play a key role in developing the roadmap for the next generation of products from SPEEDCARGO.

This is a critical function, which will integrate customer and market needs with an understanding of technologies that are available in the market and internal SPEEDCARGO capabilities leading to the development of the product roadmap and product definitions for various products from SPEEDCARGO.

You will also be involved in translating these definitions to the technology team and help in the development of a product requirement document and work closely with the team to facilitate the development of the technology. In addition, the product manager will act as the bridge between the solutioning and sales team and the technology team to bring in customer needs into the product roadmap and educating the customer facing teams on the product capability and deployment.

To be successful you will need to have a strong sense of customer and market needs coupled with strong technical skills (previous engineering experience in robotics & AI will be beneficial). The role requires constant interaction with customers, industry partners, analysts to build a direction for the product.

The successful candidate will need to have prior full cycle product development experience in a commercial organization. S/he is a strong leader with good communication skills and the ability to work in a flat, highly skilled and talented multi-cultural environment.

 

Mandatory requirements

  1. 5 -8 years’ experience in Product Management at a robotics firm. Candidates with only lab/research experience will not be considered.
  2. PhD/Master/Bachelor Degree in Robotics / Computer Science from a reputed University
  3. Strong fundamentals in Engineering
