About TUMCREATE

TUMCREATE is a multidisciplinary research platform of the Technical University Munich (TUM) at the Singapore Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE). We are joining forces with universities, public agencies, and industry for the advancement of future technologies.

A new project, “Singapore’s Pathway to Carbon Neutrality: Analysis of New Technologies”, has been launched. The aim of this project is to analyse options for alternative energy supply for Singapore such as import of electricity from neighbouring countries, long-distance high-voltage direct-current connections, alternative fuels such as hydrogen or synthetic fuels.

Please visit www.tum-create.edu.sg for more information about TUMCREATE.

Objective of the position:

We are looking for a Research Fellow to develop detailed dynamic simulation models for hydrogen-based processes as well as to analyse H2 and CO2 transport and storage options, including the implementation of digital twins for these technologies. This is a full-time 2-year contract with extension possibility based on project requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Development of dynamic simulation models to analyse transport and storage of CO2
  • Implementation of digital twins
  • Engagement in development of other models in the project
  • Publication of methods and results in international scientific journals
  • Participation in grant calls and other funding opportunities

Job Requirements:

  • PhD in Chemical or Process Engineering, or a related field with at least 1 year of experience
  • Proven track record in mathematical modelling
  • Knowledge of chemical processes, state-of-the-art process simulation tools (Aspen Plus, HYSYS, UniSim Design, CHEMCAD etc.) and dynamic process simulations
  • Programming knowledge (preferably Python and MATLAB)
  • Ability to interact with other researchers and define a working structure
  • Good English writing and communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills for working in an international research team with people of different backgrounds
