About TUMCREATE TUMCREATE is a research platform for the improvement of Singapore's public transportation, including the deployment of electric and autonomous mobility. Researchers from Technical University Munich and Nanyang Technological University join forces and are funded by Singapore’s National Research Foundation as part of the Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE).In TUMCREATE, over 100 scientists, researchers and engineers work together, led by Professors from the Technical University of Munich and Nanyang Technological University. About this Position
We have an open position for a Research Engineer at TUMCREATE in Singapore. We are a multi-cultural research and development team based at the University Town Campus at the National University of Singapore.
TUMCREATE is a core partner in the interdisciplinary Cooling Singapore 2.0 project – a collaboration between Singapore ETH Centre, SMU, TUMCREATE, SMART, CARES, and NUS. The project is dedicated to reducing the urban heat island effect and improving the outdoor thermal comfort in Singapore. The project aims to develop a Digital Urban Climate Twin (DUCT). This includes development of technical infrastructure (e.g., simulation-as-a-service middleware) and integration of a variety of computational models for anthropogenic heat emissions and urban climate simulations. The DUCT will feature a sophisticated user interface and multiple applications to support government agencies and planning authorities in assessing strategies for reducing urban heat in a holistic, systematic, and interactive manner. We are currently looking to enhance our team with an individual to take over modelling of the transport sector and the corresponding data analysis tasks.
What we expect from you
Firm understanding of statistical modelling
Good knowledge of C++
Knowledge of scripting languages required (e.g., bash, python)
Knowledge in modelling and simulation techniques advantageous
Excellent documentation and communication skills for internal and external presentation as well as scientific discussions
MSc/PhD in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Mathematics or related field
Fluent in spoken and written English
