About TUMCREATE TUMCREATE is a research platform for the improvement of Singapore's public transportation, including the deployment of electric and autonomous mobility. About This Position
Beyond the technical challenges, the deployment of autonomous and connected vehicles raises many questions related to society and human factors that the Design for Autonomous Mobility (DAM) team wants to analyse. A Virtual Companion, as part of the AV’s human-machine interface, is proposed as a solution for the absence of the human. Insights are needed into how people respond to virtual or robotic agents compared to human agents.
We are therefore looking for a highly motivated Master’s student to support the DAM team in investigating human-human and human-machine interaction and communication in the local context. This is a full-time position based in Singapore.
Objectives & Tasks
Investigate human-human vs. human-machine interaction and communication
Develop a research plan and objectives for a Master’s thesis pertaining to the above topic
Plan, conduct and analyse empirical studies with human subjects
Assist in the preparation and writing of research reports
Maintain project documentation, materials and records
Degree in Industrial Design, Interaction Design, UX Design or related field required
Experience with user research and statistical methods preferred
Organized, independent and reliable working attitude
Meticulous documentation skills
Excellent verbal and written fluency in English
Ability to work in a multicultural environment
