Position Summary
What is your role?

SPEEDCARGO is a new and exciting venture that will commercialize the world's first AI-powered robotic solution for air cargo logistics. The design of real-world robotic systems is a multi-disciplinary effort. This involves the development of mechanical elements like sensors and actuators, electronic components for connecting and controlling the mechanical elements and software for higher-level planning and process control.

 

A Business Manager is someone who will work with the technical experts and provide the business analyses necessary for decision making to senior management. This person will work hand in hand with the technical team from initial business case to roadmap delivery, launch, and ongoing support operations. We want someone with an entrepreneurial drive and demonstrated experience across product strategy, marketing, finance, engineering and support. This is an exciting opportunity to jump into a promising start-up position early.

 

Company Information

TUMCREATE is a leading Research Institute set up by the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in collaboration with the National Research Foundation in Singapore. TUMCREATE is commercializing an automation solution that will transform the Air Freight Logistics sector. The SPEEDCARGO system will be the world's first AI-powered robotic solution for automatic build-up and break down of aviation cargo pallets and will help Singapore lead the transformation of the logistics industry globally. The project is seeking professionals with an entrepreneurial passion, and a willingness to work in a fast paced, quality obsessed, multi-cultural global environment. On successful completion, the project will be spun off as a start-up with members of the project team.

Basic Job Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Undergraduate degree with high academic achievement required, advanced degree preferred
  • 2-5 years of relevant product management experience, business development for software or subscription-based data product highly desirable
  • Experience in pricing strategy, software development or deployment highly desirable
  • Consulting or other professional service experience preferred

 

Key Competencies

  • Keen understanding and experience of product development and launch process
  • The ability to adapt communication style to multiple stakeholders and cultures
  • Entrepreneurial drive and working at a fast pace
  • Conversant with relevant technologies combined with an awareness of technology trends and their potential influence

 

Job Responsibilities
What will I do?

Business Requirements Gathering:

  • Work closely with technology experts to develop a product business case according to set standards
  • Make recommendations for operating models based on use cases, the competitive landscape, and technology trends
  • Prioritize requirements and align the team around SPEEDCARGO products through primary user research
  • Capture client feedback though multiple channels and methods to inform multi-year product roadmaps
  • Collaborate with the product sponsors and third-party vendors to find best solutions that can be delivered in time and cost sensitive manner

 

Product Marketing and Communication:

  • Commercialize plans and support internal business development
  • Evangelize and build awareness of the product internally and externally through events, trainings, publications, and client proposals
  • Drive marketing collateral creation needed for product promotion and business development
  • Provide input, trainings, and support cross-functional initiatives (product marketing and sales, technical field enablement, support, etc.)

 

Product Development:

  • Collaborate with the engineering team on requirements, scope definition, and statement of work
  • Evaluate new technology and systems to fulfil business needs, make build/buy trade-offs, etc.
  • Instruct and direct the development team on functional and technical requirements, formulating, and defining system scope, integration requirements, and objectives
  • Vendor management for development and marketing of products
  • Manage stakeholders' expectations while building credibility with senior stakeholders through a strong business sense

 

Ongoing Delivery and Support Management:

  • Develop and implement product launch plans from rollout to technical and nontechnical service delivery teams
  • Own quality and ongoing management of product support materials – e.g. technical "how-to's", digital properties, marketing content, etc.
  • Train service desk, client service teams and/or knowledge team owners as appropriate
  • Prioritize ideas and opportunities to enhance products and maintain product roadmaps/investment cases
  • Making recommendations for innovative execution and support models as well as technological improvements
