Bio
Luis received his MSc degree in Sustainable Critical Infrastructure from Masdar Institute (MI) 2017. His research consisted of an urban energy model calibration, considering the effects of urban heat island as part of a project in partnership with MIT to investigate the modelling of microclimate in the urban environment and mitigation of heat island effect. During the year 2014, he worked in a consultancy company for building energy efficiency in Brasilia, Brazil. He obtained his Bachelors degree (Civil Engineering) from the University of Brasilia (UnB) 2014, with one year studying abroad in University of East London (UEL), as part of an exchange program.
Research:
Luis joined TUM CREATE in 2018 to work on the energy aspects of the Cooling Singapore project. His research includes the analysis of the energy flow in Singapore and the influence of buildings in the Urban Heat Island effect. His interests include modelling microclimate energy models, buildings’ energy efficiency, machine learning approaches to optimize building and urban design and social behaviours’ impact on building energy performance.
